Abstract
- The article discusses efforts by the New York City (NYC) Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, to reduce combined sewage overflows (CSO). An overview of the terms of the agreement, which includes the implementation of more than two billion dollars worth of green infrastructure throughout NYC, such as in-line sewer storage, and continued reliance on gray infrastructure to reduce CSO volumes is presented.
