Abstract
- The article discusses the evidence for the carbon dioxide (CO2)-driven origin of the explosion of Stromboli volcano in Italy. It states that the explosions are systematically preceded by a brief phase of increasing CO2/ S02 weight ration. It cites that non-linear magma flow could account to the observed C02 degassing patterns. It also mentions that C02-rich gas triggers demonstrates possibility to forecast explosions.
