Abstract
- The article offers criticism on the novel "Underworld," by Don Delillo. The author discusses "Underworld" as a postmodern novel and focuses on periodization and politicization in the novel. Specific topics include literary theorist Fredric Jameson's theories on capitalism and utopia in relation to periodization, scholar Phillip Wegner's interpretation of the novel in relation to the 1990s, how the book relates to the politicization of the Cold War and Marxism, and Delillo's novel "White Noise."
