Abstract
- The article offers information on a research in which a new app '2D-Fourier' has been developed by two nanophotonics researchers in The Netherlands. The application, which calculates the Fourier transform of an image on the smartphone, runs on both the iPhone and the iPad. According to Albert Polman, director of the FOM Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam, the Fourier transform is complex, partly because the human brain has problems understanding the inverse of space and time.
