Abstract

The article provides a number of historians' perspectives on the importance of narrative in the study and teaching of history in light of forthcoming changes to Great Britain's national history curriculum. The advice offered is targeted at history school teachers. Topics discussed include the presence of narrative in the construction of national histories, national identities, and history as storytelling.
