Abstract
- The article discusses how bills like the Protect IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) may require Internet service providers to start monitoring online activity. It says that both bills threaten to curtail free speech on the Internet by letting the U.S. Department of Justice to block access to and blacklist websites suspected of copyright infringement. According to the author, the privacy can be protected by visiting only websites that offer an encrypted connection.
