Abstract

The article reports on the 7.3% increase in the research and development (R&D) spending of the top 50 global investors in chemicals in 2010. Dow Chemical dominated the R&D ranking by spending 1.66 billion U.S. dollars. More than 1.5 billion U.S. dollars in R&D were invested by DuPont, Mitsubishi Chemical and BASF. It cites DSM, Mitsubishi Chemical and Sumitom Chemical as the top R&D firms without major agricultural chemical activities.
