Abstract
- The article explores the implications of the telephone-hacking scandal involving the newspaper "News of the World" for communication policy in Great Britain. The incident demonstrates the influence of industry and political figures in thinking through the basis of policy. It also reveals the relationship between the preparations made for a new Communications Bill and a public inquiry into the ethics and regulation of the news media.
