Abstract

The article presents a study which explores the potentials and limitations of time-reversal wave field imaging of finite seismic sources. It characterizes the seismic sources with time-reversed fields in the process of fault rupture localization, slip distribution estimation, and source complexity inversions. It shows that time-reversal imaging does not improve the frequency band modifications and suggests that such limitation starts at the point where the source stops being point-localised.
