Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the atmospheric effect of electromagnetic charges occurring in the surface layer through a model of self-generated seismo-electromagnetic oscillation of the local segment of the lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere (LAI) system. It estimates the frequency and characteristics of a seismic activity and the relation of the LAI system. It notes that the model explains the precursor effects of ruptures and suggests that it may likely to forecast earthquakes.
