India with the second largest populated country in the world boasts of having the second largest education system and third largest in higher education. This article provides an overview of the education system in India with emphasis on technical education as well as on undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering. List of the top universities in India which are internationally recognized for undergraduate studies in engineering is provided.
