Abstract
- The article focuses on U.S. court case Doe VIII v. Exxon Mobil Corp. with dealt with the Alien Tort Statute (ATS). Information is provided on how the court decided that corporations would not be immune from liability under the ATS. It is noted that the petroleum company Exxon committed tortious acts by retaining Indonesian soldiers to serve as security forces at their facilities in Indonesia despite knowledge that the soldiers committed acts of violence and torture on villagers.
