Abstract

The article presents a study concerning the effect of household air pollution reduction in children with pneumonia in Guatemala. Researchers have conducted a parallel randomized control trial using an open indoor wood fires used for cooking. Findings reveal the association of 50 % exposure reduction in physician-diagnosed pneumonia in a exposure-response analysis. The study also showed that the reduction on wood smoke exposure does not reduce pneumonia in children who are younger than 18 months.
