Abstract
- The article considers the history of Fenway Park baseball field in Boston, Massachusetts from its opening in 1912 to 1919. Notable events other than baseball games staged at the field are considered including football games, circuses, and a speech by Irish political leader Eamon de Valera. It is noted that the Boston Red Sox appeared in four World Series during this period. A riot which occurred during a June 16, 1917 game between the Red Sox and Chicago White Sox started by gamblers attending the game is discussed.
