Abstract
- The article discusses a study which suggests the important role of hybridization in animal evolution after house mice in Germany and Spain acquired resistance against a group of rodent poisons through hybridization with a different species, the Algerian mouse. Studies conducted by biologist Michael Kohn revealed the resistance of mice to warfarin. Kohn attributes the warfarin-resistance of mice to the changes in the gene for VKOR protein resulting from mutations.
