Primary care referral to a commercial provider for weight loss treatment versus standard care: a randomised controlled trial.

The article presents a study which compares standard treatment and weight loss in primary care obtained after referral by the primary care team to commercial provider within the community. It says that randomised controlled trial was used to study 772 obese and overweight adults recruited by primary care practices in Great Britain, Germany, and Australia. Results show that participants in the commercial programme group lost twice more the weight of the participants in the standard care group.
