Abstract

In order to quantify loads of floating implements used in aquatic exercise and/or hydrotherapy, the purpose of this study was to determine the buoyancy load of these implements verifying their hydrostatic weight. For this, one load cell was used to measure the hydrostatic weight. The implements were classified as lifting or overload, with exception of aquatubes, which were another group. The aquatube with hole presented a buoyancy load a little greater than the one without hole and there is no difference of the buoyancy load between the one without hole and the one that was sealed. The overload implements presented an average hydrostatic weight of 1.28 kgf. The average hydrostatic weight of the lifting implements was greater than overloads. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
