Abstract

The article examines the Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in Europe. According to the authors, the CISG states that unforeseen circumstances which cause non-performance of contract by one party can be deemed excusable and provides the parties the right to demand for a renegotiation of the contract. They state that this rule has produced debates, particularly with regards to the legal definition of hardship or unforeseen circumstances and the way CISG is interpreted.
