Coercion: Definition and challenges, current approaches, and new trends.

In this article the authors discuss the importance of coercion in many important theoretical discussions. According to the authors, coerced meaning effects are not expressed by the syntax, due to which coercion has been of crucial importance in maintaining the principle of compositionality. The authors say that coercion phenomena has been a major topic in formal syntax and semantics, and recently, it has been widely discussed in Construction Grammar.
