Abstract
- The Calvinistic concept of common grace should help us to recognize the necessity of being aided by secular knowledge as a way of deepening our theology and as an exercise of an apologetic strategy against the postmodern attacks to the genuine Christian faith. We call this interdisciplinarity, a means of establishing points of contact with secular thought. Evidently, such points are those of common interest, which can be used for the benefit of our confes-sion. We find a good example of this in hermeneutics. In days of skepticism regarding meaning, we can identify several thinkers who have been critics of skepticism and, in their theories, formalize ideas that help us to understand and better respond to this challenge. Hermeneutical realism provides an answer to the attacks of hermeneutical idealism, undoubtedly one of the main contem-porary challenges to the concept of Scripture as God's Word.
