Abstract

The article discusses the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, as well as subsequent events and societal changes, on Great Britain. Particular focus is given to the British government's response to the attacks, including British involvement in the Iraq and Afghan wars, anti-terrorism legislation, and arrests. According to the author, military action in Islamic countries by the U.S. and Great Britain should be replaced by diplomacy. It is suggested that American and British people should protest what the author considers the misuse of state power. Details related to the London terrorist bombings of 2005 are also presented. Other topics include resilience, collective memory, and civilian liberties.
