Discourse, Identity, and Community: Problems and Prospects in the Study of Islam in America.

The article proposes a methodological framework that offers the possibility to manage the hindrances facing the study of Muslim diversity in the U.S. It explores the rudimentary relationship between Islam and Muslim identity to investigate the ways in which Islamic hermeneutics shape the articulation of American Muslim identity. It focuses on Islamic discourses over the various sociological categories of Muslim groups.
