Abstract

The article presents a study which establishes the first bacterial artificial chromosomes (BAC) library for switchgrass, a grass native to North America which is being developed into a biomass fuel crop. The switchgrass BAC library was constructed by partial digestion of nuclear DNA and comparative analysis of two genomic regions with orthologs of the rice OsBRI1 was conducted. The switchgrass BAC library and comparative analysis presents a glimpse into the structure of switchgrass genome.
