Abstract

The article analyzes the effectiveness of a computerized open-loop decision support system used to provide resuscitation to burned patients. According to the authors, using the computer decision support system in an intensive care setting resulted in fluid management improvements among severely burned patients. They reveal that all measures of crystalloid fluid volume were reduced, leading them to conclude that the addition of the computer system helped improve patient care.
