Abstract

Presents a study that tested the role of the sympathetic nervous system in the progressive increase in mean arterial pressure. Evidence for both an increase and a decrease in activity of the nitric oxide (NO) system in the diabetic state; Interrelationship between NO, the sympathetic nervous system and the renin-angiotensin system; Explanation for the increase in the blood pressure of rats.
