Marine mammals succumbing to dual parasite infections.

The article focuses on a study which examined the link between severe illness and co-infection with Sarcocystis neurona and Toxoplasma gondii. The study included over 150 marine mammals that died between 2004 and 2009 in the Pacific Northwest. It found that Sarcocystis neurona exacerbates disease symptoms among the marine mammals. Study authors concluded that mammals with decreased immunity are likely to have worse signs when co-infected with Sarcocystis neurona and Toxoplasma gondii.
