From the editors' desk: valuing health and primary care.

An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses various reports within the issue on topics including the importance of obtaining access to a source of care for insured patients, the relationship between quality of care and socio-economic characteristics of Medicare patients, and on an intensive and condensed literacy-adapted self-management course.
