Abstract

The article outlines a process for the synthesis of 4-Chloro-1H-indazole, which is described as being a more efficient and economic procedure than those previously used. The utilization of the commercially available 3- chloro-2-methylaniline as a starting material is outlined, as well as the acetylation of its NH2 group which produces N-acetyl-3-chloro-2-methylaniline. Money saving aspects of this procedure are highlighted, including the usage of tert-Butyl nitrite instead of iso-amyl nitrite, and the used of NaOH instead of LiOH.
