Abstract
- From naturally infected horseweed plants (Conisa canadensis L.) with systemic symptoms of yellow-green mottling on the leaves, tobacco necrosis virus (TNV) was mechanically transferred to healthy test plants. Identification of the virus is based on results of bioassays with differential plant hosts and serological ELISA-test. This is the first report of tobacco necrosis virus in Conisa canadensis L. species. Based on results of the present study and our previous report about detection of tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV) it can be concluded that infected horseweed plants in the Sarajevo area have great epidemiological significance beacuse they provide a reservoir of different viruses from which economically important crop plants may become infected.
