Abstract

The article discusses research done on the nuclear organization of transcription and DNA replication in mammalian cell types. The researchers investigated the association between interchromatin compartment and chromatin domains. It is shown that narrow interchromatin compartment (IC) channels can be filled with decondensed chromatin representing the perichromatin regions (PRs) from two closely neighboring chromatin domains (CDs). The article offers information on chromosome territories (CTs) contained in the nucleii of multicellular organisms.
