Abstract
- The article discusses research done on space and time in the nucleus in relation to the developmental control of chromosome architecture and replication timing. Segments of genomes are replicated by eukaryotic cells in a temporal sequence. Half of the genome in multicellular organisms is subject to changes in terms of temporal sequence during development. Evidence on the association of the replication program with the three-dimensional architecture of chromatin in the nucleus is discussed.
