Abstract
- The article discusses immigration rights for binational same-sex couples. According to the author, there is a strong link between the legal recognition granted by marriage and that granted by immigration status. It is suggested that pressure for reforms to laws and policies regarding binational same-sex couples can come from local, state, or provincial governments on one hand, and from national policy on the other. Other topics include binational couples who call themselves love exiles living in the Netherlands, the difficulties such couples face when traveling to the U.S., and possibilities for political activism, education, and resistance on an individual level.
