Abstract

The article presents a study on the effect of concurrent sexual partnerships on the rate of new HIV infections in rural South Africa. It has been speculated that the concurrent sexual partnerships are one of the main drivers of the HIV epidemic. The findings suggest the relevance to reduce multiple partnerships in the hyperendemic sub-Saharan African settings despite the insufficient evidence on the effect of concurrent partnerships on HIV epidemic.
