Abstract

The article presents ten open-ended questions identifying and discussing unsolved mysteries pertaining to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Historical questions mentioned relate to the dynamics between the Soviet political leadership and the intelligence work of the Komitet gosudarstvennoi bezopasnosti (KGB) national security agency, the whereabouts of billions of dollars in the Communist Party's accounts which disappeared at the collapse, and the state of several secret military programs developed by the Soviet Union regarding nuclear and chemical weapons.
