How John Deere's New Hybrid Wheel Loaders Get Their Juice.

The article reports that with its 644K hybrid wheel loader and its more efficient 944K loader, Deer & Co. is the latest supplier to build diesel-electric construction machines as of June 2011. It states that combining an internal combustion engine with electric motors is rare in construction equipment. Manufacturers believe that as volumes of electrical components rise, more heavy-duty hybrids will arrive in the next five to ten years notwithstanding current costs still being high.
