Abstract
- The article reports that Iraq is in negotiations to buy as many as 36 F-16 fighter jets from the U.S., along with air-defense technology. Iraqi security official Safa Hussein al-Shekh said air defense was among his nation's top priorities. William McHenry of defense contractor Lockheed Martin, which manufactures the F-16s, did not indicate when a deal would be finalized.
