Abstract

The article discusses the case of a 12-year old boy from Kansas who sought treatment for cough, fever and sore throat and was tested positive in an influenza rapid antigen test. The patient reported that he touched healthy-appearing swine several times. He received a standard treatment course of oseltamivir and totally recovered. The case illustrates the importance of epidemiologic and laboratory surveillance in areas where close contact of humans and swine occurs.
