Abstract

The article proposes research principles for developing food value chains (FVCs), which the authors define as processes that comprise all the activities required to bring agricultural products to consumers, including crop production, processing, storage, marketing, distribution, and consumption. This paper is focused upon implementing these processes in developing countries and provides recommendations for doing so, including identifying opportunities available in domestic markets, paying attention to post-harvest losses, and promoting on-farm natural resources conversation.
