Abstract
- The article discusses a research study on the acceptance of the use of Pain Behaviour Observational Methods (PBOM) by nursing home staff. The success of pain management in cognitively impaired older people (CIOP) is observed to be affected by the inability to verbally report pain. The use of PBOM by frontline nurses is said to be dependent on their willingness to use them with CIOP. It concludes that nurses are willing to use PBOM in daily routine but are concerned with time and effort required with regular use of PBOM.
