Abstract

The article explains how spread-spectrum clocking can help reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) in synchronous systems. The benefits of spread-spectrum-clocking are discussed. An overview of how to use the spread-spectrum-clocking isolation function available in select Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) switches is presented. Described, as well, are the advantages of the separation of clock domains.
