Abstract

The article reports on the nutritional and health benefits of blueberries according to scientists in the U.S. Blueberries, according to studies, are low in calories and rich in vitamin C. Clinical trials are being conducted in order to determine whether responses to blueberry compounds observed in animals also occur in people. The cholesterol lowering effects of blueberries are being studied in laboratory animals by Agricultural Research Service (ARS) chemist Wallace H. Yokoyama.
