Abstract
- The article discusses a study which examined the underlying syndemic factor comprising of substance abuse, violence, HIV risk, and depressive symptoms amongst Latinas in the United States. It offers information on the study methods and results, and discusses the measures and variables used, including socioeconomic disadvantage, violence and risk for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Also mentioned are the goals of the Healthy People 2010 and the Syndemic Model for Hispanics.
