Abstract

The article focuses on a research made by Scott G. Hansen and colleagues on the creation of vaccines for the treatment of AIDS and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) found in macaques. According to their research, in rhesus macaques, the stimulation of a type of T cell may limit the initial stages of replication of SIV. Moreover, their work shows that the immune system can determine pathogens years after the first exposure with the use a specialized population of T cells called memory T cells.
