Abstract

The article looks at the construction of queer sexuality in the context of heteronormativity. The author considers how race and sexuality are socially constructed, noting the social invisibility of gays, lesbians, and others who stray from socially accepted norms. The relationship between homosexuality and commodity capitalism is discussed. The author compares the social implications of homosexuality to the disciplinary function of feminist identity politics. The social bonds created by individuals engaging in sexual activity together are also discussed.
