Abstract

AS a founder of Paper Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn, Scott Morrison knows a thing or two about making jeans. At 3x1, opening today, he invites you to commission your own dream jeans from a daunting range of fabrics, washes and hardware. The new shop, named for a type of denim weave, also stocks ready-made styles (25 for women, 40 for men), starting at $295. ''I designed the space to emphasize complete transparency,'' Mr. Morrsion said of the glass walls at the center of the store, behind which an in-house team of patternmakers, cutters and 11 seamstresses will make about 22 pairs of jeans a day. ''I wanted it to be something no one had seen before.'' The best part: hemming while you wait. 3x1, 15 Mercer Street, (212) 391-6969; info@3x1.us. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
