Abstract: The article presents news stories and editorials from various newspapers about Russian politics as of March 2011. It is contended that President Dmitry Medvedev's political and economic views contrast those of his predecessor, Vladimir Putin. This departure from the vertical chain of command will reportedly have repercussions for both men as they gear for the 2012 presidential race. Also, a study has shown that the office of the president has been given 469 additional powers since its creation in 1993.
