Abstract
- A quad-band printed planar inverted-F antenna with two meander strips is proposed, designed, and tested. Its geometry is mainly comprised of an inverted meandered U-shaped shorting strip and a tunable T-shaped shorting strip for providing two operating bands at center frequency about 900 MHz and 1940 MHz to cover four bands: GSM, DCS, PCS, and UMTS with a small area of 15 × 33 mm. The antenna can be easily fed by a 50-Ω feed-line without any external matching circuit or lumped circuit elements for size reduction or bandwidth enhancement. It is easy to fabricate at low cost and especially fit for thin-profile mobile phone application. Good impedance and radiation performances are obtained. Details of the proposed antenna and the obtained results are also presented. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
