Abstract

The article discusses U.S. family law issues involved in remarriage with blended families in the group of over 50 years old. It states that over-50 spouse may bring his or her separate property into a new marriage, which may include real property, individual retirement accounts, and defined benefit or contribution plans. She adds that more couples over the age of 50 are using prenuptial agreement to manage the ownership of property if the relationship may end in divorce. Other issues include health care, living arrangements, and guardianships.
