COOK STOVES: FROM BANE TO BOON.

Abstract: The article discusses the development of the cooking method in India with the help of the Global Alliance for Clean Cook Stoves program launched by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. It provides an overview of the cooking method used by women which exposes them to shortcomings and danger. It notes that the U.S. government has provided 50 million dollar for the project and hopes to send 100 million clean-burning stoves to villages in Africa, Asia and South America by 2020.
