Abstract

The article discusses the ways in which Germany used the piston-engine, tandem-winged Dornier Do-335 Pfeil fighter plane during World War II. While the article describes the plane's fairly unorthodox design, such as its cockpit location, drive shaft, and piston-powered engine, the author is mainly concerned with the effects of German bureaucratic involvement in German combat-plane manufacturing on the plane's use (or lack thereof) during the war.
